Muda scam: FIR against CM likely today

Mysuru/Bengaluru: Lokayukta police in Mysuru are set to register an FIR (First Information Report) against chief minister Siddaramaiah on Friday in the alleged Muda scam.
Lokayukta police had not registered the FIR till late Thursday night as a copy of the special court order had not been served to the office of superintendent of police, Lokayukta, Mysuru.
A special court for elected representatives in Bengaluru Wednesday directed Lokayukta police to register a case against Siddaramaiah, wife BM Parvathi, brother-in-law Mallikarjun Swamy, Devaraju, and others under IPC, Prevention of Corruption Act, Karnataka Land-Grabbing Prohibition Act and Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, following a complaint from Mysuru-based activist Snehamayi Krishna. It had directed that a report be submitted in three months.
Mysuru Lokayukta superintendent of police TJ Udesh told TOI Thursday he had visited the special court in Bengaluru earlier in the day to collect a copy of the order to proceed with the formalities. The officer clarified the FIR will be registered as soon as they get the order copy. A Lokayukta officer in Bengaluru said Udesh had collected the order copies, and met his senior Lokayukta officials to discuss the future course of action.
Snehamayi Krishna alleged the SP was not available in the office to register the FIR. He claimed the officer's absence was design to delay filing the FIR.
Krishna, who reached the office of the Mysuru Lokayukta with a photocopy of the court order, left the office in a huff. He visited Devaraja police station to file a complaint that the SP Lokayukta was missing. As his complaint wasn't entertained, he then left to meet the commissioner of police in this regard.
The special court had said in its order that, prima facie, an investigation was needed into Snehamayi Krishna's allegations the CM and others.
Special judge Gajanana Bhat observed that the high court, which dismissed the CM's challenge to the governor sanctioning the investigation against him had, had referred to the representation given by Parvathi immediately after the execution of the gift deed in her favour.
"The high court has held that if Parvathi was aware that Muda had distributed the sites in the year 2001 itself, then how had her brother purchased the property which was already vested with the Muda and how was it accepted by way of gift. The high court has clearly observed that it was there that the needle of lurking suspicion emanates about the transaction. When the observation made by the high court is appreciated with the documents furnished along with the complaint before this court, it prima facie indicates that an investigation is required to be conducted in the above case," the court order read.
