Bangalore: A group of Kannada artistes led by matinee idol Darshan is up in arms against the `indifferent' and `arrogant' attitude of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) president Jayamala.
During the platinum jubilee celebrations in March first week, KFCC brought out 75 books on people who had contributed to the industry in the past but are no more. Several famous actors like Thoogudeepa Srinivas (Darshan's father), N S Rao, Sundarkrishna Urs, Dinesh, Mysore Lokesh and Musuri Krishnamurthy were not included in this list.
Darshan told reporters on Monday: "When we asked her why they'd been left out, she arrogantly asked us to do whatever we wanted. She said we are young and hence should keep quiet because it might have an adverse impact on our careers. We are pained by her attitude.''
Yesteryear actors' sons Om Prakash Rao, Tharun Sudhir, Nagendra Urs, Giri Dinesh, Adi Lokesh and Jayasimha Musuri echoed the same feelings.
Darshan said they would bring out books on the late actors, who entertained the masses by playing villains and comic characters.
When asked about the allegations, Jayamala told TOI: "We never said it was an exhaustive list. So many have contributed to the industry, but we had to restrict the numbers to 75 and couldn't include all. I told him we'll bring out a souvenir on his father too in some time. Darshan is young and I will forgive him like a mother for his utterances.''
