As per the document, 65 toll plazas in the country which have seen long queues due to a huge number of cash transactions have been directed to convert 25% of lanes to hybrid lanes to facilitate smooth flow of traffic.

The toll plazas in Bengaluru exempted from 100% FASTag mandate are Sadahalli (near KIA), Electronic City Elevated Road, Doddakarenahalli, Hoskote, Attibele Grade Section, Bellur and Bengaluru-Nelamangala section. The ministry's directive said the relaxed mandate will be in place for 30 days from Jan 15.

Despite FASTag rollout across the country, long queues continue at toll plazas in Karnataka. FASTag payments accounted for 56% of all transactions in Karnataka as of January 17.
