BENGALURU: A 20-year-old first-year B Pharmacy student at a Hosakerehalli college in Banashankari was stabbed to death near the railway tracks in Srirampura Thursday.
Yamini Priya G was a resident of Swatantrapalya in Srirampura.
The attack, allegedly carried out by her former boyfriend Vignesh—who remains at large—involved multiple wounds to her throat, face, and body. The assault occurred between 2pm and 2.30pm, with police being alerted at 2.50pm.
Priya was very close to Vignesh in the past, but they developed differences over some issues, and she started avoiding him, said a senior police officer.
He was making efforts to resume his romantic relationship with her, but Priya turned down his request multiple times. He was troubling her by following her near the college and home.
She complained to Srirampura police, requesting them to warn Vignesh. Accordingly, police took a statement from him and warned him.
Vignesh was earlier arrested by City Market police for extorting money from people in the guise of police and marshals during the Covid-19 pandemic.
A case has been registered at Srirampura police station.
