Engineering student dies three days after accident

BENGALURU: Dhrupad Gangadhar, a final-year

civil engineering student

at the

JSS Academy of Technical Education

, died on Saturday, three days after he met with an accident outside his college on Wednesday.

Gangadhar, according to witnesses, was

hit by a truck outside his college

. "He was on his bike, going to the photocopying shop about 300m from our college. He overtook a car when a truck coming from the opposite direction hit his bike after taking a sudden right turn," said one of his classmates, who did not want to be named. Gangadhar was

not wearing his helmet at the time of the accident

, which according to his classmate, was a common practice.

The boy had been in a comatose state since the accident and had shown little indication of recovery, one of his friends said.
