Drivers queue up at CNG stations amid fears

Bengaluru: Several CNG stations across the city Wednesday witnessed long queues of vehicles, particularly taxis, waiting to refill their tanks. However, distribution companies clarified there is no unusual surge in demand and that CNG supply remains smooth.Shashikumar, a taxi driver, said there were concerns among drivers that like auto LPG, CNG prices could increase or supplies could be disrupted. "I did not face any difficulty in filling my tank. Unlike petrol and diesel pumps, CNG stations usually have long queues as refuelling takes more time. I hope there will be no supply disruptions in the coming days," he said.Nithin, employee at a CNG station on Sir M Visvesvaraya Road, said supply remained normal and prices are the same. "At present, CNG costs Rs 90.10 per kg," he said.An official from GAIL said queues at stations are common during weekdays. "Typically, from Tuesday to Thursday, stations see longer queues, while they reduce over the weekend. There is no significant surge in demand or disruption in supply. CNG and PNG distribution in the city remains normal," he said.GAIL operates 153 CNG stations in the city, and nearly 1.8 lakh vehicles run on the fuel.
