Don't oppose statue, KDA tells activists

BANGALORE: Kannada Development Authority (KDA) chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru has urged pro-Kannada organizations not to oppose the unveiling of poet Tiruvalluvar's statue in Bangalore on August 9.
Instead, he asked the activists to hold a dialogue with the government, if necessary. "It is a good move and shouldn't be linked to other disputes between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu,'' Chandru said on Saturday.
KDA plans
The KDA will hold a lecture series at the Freedom Park every Sunday and the BBMP would organize cultural programmes on Saturdays and Sundays.Chandru said the lectures will be by eminent persons on various issues.
