BENGALURU: Vipin Poornachandra, a 24-year-old employee of e-commerce firm Amazon fell to death from the terrace of his friend’s apartment in Kadugodi, east Bengaluru, at about 3am on Friday.
Vipin’s death is the second in his family on the same day. His mother Meera Poornachandra had died at 1am according to doctors, more than three years after she was diagnosed with cancer.
According to the family, Vipin was at their New Thippasandra home in east Bengaluru when Meera collapsed and died.
“...He then left in a hurry saying he had to meet a friend. We asked him to stay back but he just left,” a family friend who was at Vipin’s house on Friday told TOI.
The police said that although Vipin went to Army Apartments in Kadugodi (it has no connection with the Indian Army) he never entered his friend’s flat. “We are trying to find out who his friend his. We were informed of the body by the apartment’s security guard, who also said he had seen Vipin earlier,” the police said.
The police added that Vipin jumped off from the terrace of the 14-floor apartment. The body has been sent for autopsy and the family is yet to receive it.
