A 28-year old homemaker and civil services aspirant undergoing treatment for depression allegedly hanged herself late on Thursday night.She took the extreme step at her Hennur home in east Bengaluru.

"Selvi left her five-year-old son Rahul (name changed) at a relative's house in the same area before hanging herself. The incident came to light at 10pm when Mutturaj, a private company employee, returned home and broke open the door on receiving no response," police added.

Selvi Mutturaj lived on Avenue Road, Hennur. In her statement to police, Selvi's husband Mutturaj said she was being treated for depression.

Selvi, who was passionate about pursuing higher studies, had completed MCA through correspondence and was keen on writing the civil services exam, the family told police.

Woman found dead at home: A 21-year-old garment factory worker, Priyanka Kallesh, was found dead in her T Dasarahalli residence off Tumakuru Road on Thursday night.
Her husband Kallesh, a daily-wage worker, is missing since Thursday, Peenya police said. "Neighbours said they heard the couple fighting since Thursday noon. Some saw Kallesh close the main door and walk away," police said. Cops found strangulation marks on the woman's neck.
