Bengaluru: Mico Layout police have intensified the investigation into the mysterious death of the student of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). Nilay Kailasbhai Patel, a II-year PGP student from Gujarat, was found dead on the hostel premises in the early hours of Sunday, his 29th birthday.A police officer said Nilay's family members arrived in the city on Sunday night. His father, Kailash Bhai Patel, an executive engineer in a private firm in Gujarat, filed a complaint, asking police to investigate the incident thoroughly as he had sustained injuries on his hand, while no other wounds were found on his body."We have registered a case of suspicious death under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), section 194 (3) – (police to enquire and report on suicide)," an officer said. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem. The doctors informed police that Nilay sustained multiple fractures after he fell from the second floor of the building. His body was found in the lawn area by the security guards who were on rounds around 6.30am."His friends, with whom Nilay celebrated his birthday, are not telling anything about consumption of alcohol. We have to wait for the postmortem report. However, we found that Nilay fell from the balcony parapet. He had kept his mobile phone and spectacles on a table. Nilay had kept a chair in the balcony; we suspect he was sitting there and slipped. We have not found any death note in his room," the officer added.
