BENGALURU: Four persons were arrested after they were found to be running a big-time cricket betting racket in a hired apartment on Uttarahalli main road, KSRTC Layout in Chikkakallasandra in Bengaluru south on Tuesday.
The four arrested had hired the flat in the apartment building for Rs 20,000 per month for running the cricket betting during the world cup semi finals held in New Zealand on Tuesday.
The central crime branch after raiding the apartment had seized 27 mobiles, an LCD TV and four laptops used to download software for cricket betting. “The four had confessed that they were given commission by an agent identified as Kunl from Mysore city for the betting amount they had collected from the public. An amount of Rs 800 were promised for Rs 1000 paid as betting amount if South Africa wins the match and as for News Zealand winning the earnings was R1000 for Rs 800 betting amount placed for the team,” said an officer. He added that the commission of 5% was promised to them by the Mysore agent for the amount collected from public as betting money.
