Covid-19: 16 new cases in Karnataka, including 9 in Bengaluru; state tally at 443

Sixteen new Covid-19 cases were reported in Karnataka on Thursday morning, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 443.

BENGALURU: Sixteen new Covid-19 cases were reported in Karnataka on Thursday morning, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 443.
Nine of the new positive cases are from Bengaluru and linked to the 54-year-old labourer who had no travel history and was suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). The labourer tested positive on April 22.

The new Bengaluru patients are all men in the age group 22-43.
The other fresh cases were reported in Mandya (2), Vijayapura (2), Hubballi-Dharwad (2) and Dakshina Kannada (1).
The two Mandya patients are contacts of Tabligh men who had earlier tested positive. They include a 47-year-old man from Mandya town and a 28-year-old woman from Malavalli.
The new Vijayapura patients include a 32-year-old man who is a contact of 60-year-old resident of Vijayapura who developed Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and tested positive for Covid-19 on April 12 and a 25-year-old woman in whose case the contact tracing is still under progress, according to the state health department.
In Hubballi-Dharwad, a 30-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl who tested positive are linked to a 37-year-old man who tested positive on April 13. In Bantwala, Dakshina Kannada, a 78-year-old woman tested positive on Thursday and she is a contact of the 50-year-old woman who developed Severe Acute Respiratory Infection, tested positive on April 19 and died the same day.
So far there have been 17 deaths and 141 discharges connected to Covid-19 in Karnataka.
