Court awards slain man's kin Rs 25,000 each, killer gets life

A fast track court (FTC) has awarded Rs 25,000 each as part of victim compensation to the mother and wife of a 30-year-old Jagan alias Kutty who was stabbed to death while the R-Day was being celebrated in Manjunathnagar close to Basaveshwaranagar in 2012.

BENGALURU: A fast track court (FTC) has awarded Rs 25,000 each as part of victim compensation to the mother and wife of a 30-year-old Jagan alias Kutty who was stabbed to death while the R-Day was being celebrated in Manjunathnagar close to Basaveshwaranagar in 2012.
The FTC-IX judge Joshi Venkatesh has in his order on Friday last sentenced the killer Chandrashekhar, a resident of IV cross, IV main Manjunathanagar to undergo life imprisonment while slapping a fine of Rs 10,000.

The case: Late on August 14 night, 2012, the locality of Manjunathnagar were preparing to celebrate Republic Day, when Chandrashekhar without provocation stabbed Jagan alias Kutty in his neighbourhood. He was rushed to the hospital by his friends, who had gathered at the venue of R-Day celebration. But Jagan, who runs a tailoring shop died while undergoing treatment.
The public prosecutor Amrath Kumar, who appeared for the police proved that there was an ongoing dispute between the two and Chandrashekhar took the opportunity to take revenge on Jagan.
