Couple arrested for cheating gold shop owner of Rs 10 crore in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A 32-year-old woman, who pretended to be the sister of former Bengaluru Rural MP DK Suresh, and her husband were arrested on charges of cheating a gold shop owner of Rs 9.8 crore.
Ishwarya Gowda and her husband Harish, residents of RR Nagar, were arrested based on a complaint filed by businesswoman Vanitha I Ital. According to Ital, who runs a gold shop in Chandra Layout, Ishwarya purchased 14.6kg of ornaments but failed to pay. Ital said an actor, identified as Dharmendra, called her on her mobile, impersonating DK Suresh, and sought time on behalf of his ‘sister' (Ishwarya) to make the payment. Police are looking for Dharmendra.
The accused couple were produced before a judge and sent to 14-day judicial custody. Cops said they will approach the court Monday, seeking police custody of the couple.
