Cook stabbed to death

Bangalore: Unable to bear the alleged harassment of her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, 22-year-old homemaker H Roopashri hanged herself at her parents' house in Basaveshwaranagar police station limits on Friday night.
The daughter of Ramanna, a food inspector, was married to Kiran Kumar in 2008 and has an 18-month-old son. Police said her in-laws allegedly harassed her for dowry and she returned to her parents just two days ago.
Tension prevailed near the police station on Saturday morning as relatives alleged the police had delayed filing the FIR.Roopashri's relatives, who came from their native place, alleged that Kiran Kumar is a relative of film actor and MLC Jaggesh and police were delaying the process to help him.
Around 12.30pm, police filed an FIR and handed over the body to the relatives. Basaveshwaranagar inspector Hanumanthappa downplayed the incident: "The villagers just wanted to perform the last rites and get back to the village."
