BENGALURU: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) decided at a meeting on Sunday evening to aggressively expose in the assembly on Monday how the BJP allegedly engineered the resignations of the rebel MLAs.

The party also decided to highlight the alleged audio conversation between BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa and Congress rebel MLA BC Patil to push the BJP on back foot.

“The BJP is spending Rs 1,000 crore to poach our MLAs,” KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao said.

At the meeting, CLP leader Siddaramaiah reportedly expressed anguish over the resignation of three MLAs from Bengaluru while claiming that he played no role in the rebel legislators’ decision to quit. “Those who had the most projects sanctioned when I was CM have backstabbed me,” Siddaramaiah said, referring to ST Somashekar, Byrathi Basavaraj and N Munirathna.

Congress leaders decided to formulate a strategy for Monday after the Supreme Court verdict on petitions filed by the Congress and JD(S) on the parties’ right to issue whips to their MLAs, requiring that they be present during the trust vote.
