What began as an ongoing Income Tax search at the Confident Group office in Bengaluru took a tragic turn on Friday when chairman CJ Roy was found dead inside the premises, prompting an immediate emergency response and police intervention.

Income Tax officials had been conducting searches at Roy’s office and other premises for the past two to three days. Officials confirmed that teams from multiple locations, including Kerala, were part of the operation when the incident occurred.

Teams from the Scene of Crime Office (SOCO) and the Forensic Science Laboratory were seen examining the Confident Group office, collecting evidence and documenting the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

CJ Roy was a prominent name in the real estate sector, having founded Confident Group in 2006. His sudden death has sent shockwaves through business circles, with industry observers closely watching developments.

Visuals from outside the Confident Group office showed heightened security, police personnel stationed at entry points, and restricted access as the investigation continued through the day.

Police said further investigation is underway, including examination of medical, ballistic and forensic reports. Officials reiterated that clarity will emerge once all findings are reviewed and statements are formally recorded.

Soon after the incident, emergency services were alerted and CJ Roy was rushed from his office to a nearby hospital. Despite swift medical attention, doctors declared him dead on arrival, police officials confirmed.

Police said preliminary findings suggest self-inflicted bullet injuries. Officials stressed that the investigation is at an early stage and conclusions will be drawn only after medical, ballistic and forensic reports are reviewed.
