BANGALORE/NEW DELHI: Barring three MPs — Ananth Kumar, Ramesh Jigajinagi and
Prahlad Joshi — all others were present at the breakfast meeting hosted by
Yeddyurappa in New Delhi on Wednesday.
This was the CM’s first visit to the national capital after he was given a reprieve by his party bosses. Though the Yeddyurappa had planned the trip, it was kept a secret.
The CM’s office maintained that this travel was to meet railway officials and seek blessings of BJP higher-ups for the forthcoming zilla and taluk panchayat polls, but sources said it was also to prove that he still maintained the confidence of party MPs representing Karnataka.
“Some MPs arrived by 8.30am, while some came after an hour. The CM’s meeting with party bosses this time was fruitful as he discussed a wide range of issues including the zilla and taluk panchayat polls, political developments and strategies against the opposition in the wake of several land scams,” a Lok Sabha MP maintained. BJP national president Nitin Gadkari is expected to be in Bangalore on December 7.
