BANGALORE: It was a long wait for those selected to govern Karnataka, caused by a tortuous exercise that involved demands and counter-demands, attempts to push a favourite's case or to pull somebody down. At the end of it all, few seemed to be happy late on Saturday night.
Following the practice of his predecessors, chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has retained Bangalore administration along with urban development.

Soon after inducting Naidu into the cabinet, Yeddyurappa plunged into discussion on portfolios with other top party leaders at a hotel. Besides the demand of the Reddy bothers for lucrative portfolios, Yeddyurappa had to contend with pressure from senior leaders to give insignificant portfolios to or marginalize certain ministers. The CM also came under tremendous pressure from the headquarters in Delhi to give plum portfolios to candidates 'blessed' by central leaders.
