Classical status celebrations on Nov 30

Bangalore: The government has dropped its proposal to felicitate 100 individuals have struggled to get classical status for Kannada. "Thousands of people have struggled for this cause. Honouring only 100 will draw ire from those who aren't on the list,'' chief minister B S Yeddyurappa said on Tuesday.
The government will symbolically celebrate the event on November 30.Rashtra Kavi G S Shivarudrappa will inaugurate the programme at Vidhana Soudha. Literary doyens Patil Puttappa, L S Seshagiri Rao, Nisar Ahmed and Kamala Hampana will participate. tnn
