while some got on to cleaning, some had a a supervisory role, ensuring the removal and dumping of garbage at specified places. it was a war on garbage, clogged drains and dusty roads, where children from various schools joined the municipal administration staff in the task. commissioner narayana said the participants had been divided into 15 teams consisting of the head, four labourers, 20 students and voluntary groups. out of the 15 vehicles deployed for transporting the garbage to the outskirts of the town, 10 belonged to the private organisations. vice-president somasekhar reddy said such activities would be held each month and subsequently extended to other wards.
