BENGALURU: Seven people, including A Narayanapura corporator V Suresh, have been named accused in a

chargesheet

filed by the

Criminal Investigation Department

(CID) in the death of advocate S Dharani in KR Puram.

The nearly 350-page chargesheet contains statements from more than 20 people, including Dharani's mother. Dharani was found hanging from the ceiling of her residence in Mahadevapura on December 31 last year.

Her mother S Devi had filed a police complaint against several neighbours, including Suresh, accusing them of abetting her suicide. In September 2018, Dharani and her mother had filed a police complaint, saying Suresh and others were trying to encroach five square feet of their land. The land was located next to their house and Dharani's mother wanted to extend the house.

Documents proved that the property belonged to Dharani's family, but Suresh never allowed the mother-daughter duo to use it, says CID in the chargesheet.
