bangalore: chief secretary a. ravindra paid a surprise visit to the health and family welfare directorate on thursday and suspended an official for undue delay in clearing files. ravindra visited the directorate at 10.30 am and found a number of chairs vacant. most of the officials, including the receptionist, were absent. large number of files were kept unattended and some were pending for over 10 years.
ravindra noticed that even cases relating to sanction of time-bound increments for officials and settlement of pensions were kept pending for more than a year. directing the health and family director to take action against the absentees, ravindra called a meeting of health secretary a.k.m. nayak, health department commissioner g.v. krishna rao and principal secretary of department of personnel and administrative reforms (dpar) shantanu consul.
