BENGALURU: A 46-year-old painter allegedly hacked to death a carpenter in west Bengaluru on Wednesday night. Arun K, 33, from Bapujinagar off Mysuru Road attacked his friend Dinesh Kumar A, 46, from Manganahalli following a financial row.
Arun had borrowed Rs 1 lakh from Dinesh and was unable to return it. Dinesh started demanding his money back and allegedly abused him. Arun told police Dinesh had asked him to send his wife to his house if he was unable to return the money.
So, he decided to eliminate Dinesh. On Wednesday, Arun called Dinesh multiple times to discuss the issue. Dinesh, who had already reached his residence, agreed to meet Arun. Arun then attacked Dinesh when he was riding his scooter at 9pm and fled.
DCP M (west) Laxman B Nibmargi had formed a special team headed by Annapoorneshwarinagar police inspector B Ramamurthy to crack the case. Police suspected Arun's involvement after they noticed that his mobile phone remained switched off soon after the murder.
Cops reached Arun's residence and his wife told them that Arun had left home two days ago and she did not know his whereabouts. When cops picked her up for questioning, she revealed Arun and Dinesh had financial issues. Later, police traced Arun.
