BANGALORE: The 3rd Bengalooru International Film Festival -- featuring more than 130 films from 35 countries -- will be inaugurated on January 15 and start the following day. It will end on January 22.
The festival will feature several sections such as cinema of the world retrospectives, tributes, world classics, Chitra Bharati, children's section and documentaries.
The focus will be on Italy and Norway.
The venues are Vision Cinemas complex and K H Patil auditorium on K H Road, Badami House in N R Square and Suchitra auditorium at 2nd Stage, Banashankari.
An American film to be released on January 30 will be premiered at the festival and 10 Indian movies will also be screened.
Other features include a four-day workshop on animation and role of sound in cinema. For children, there will be 12 films from across the world at Suchitra auditorium and documentaries at Vision Cinemas complex.
To celebrate the platinum jubilee of Kannada cinema, 28 Kannada films will be screened along with a photo exhibition and a 150-minute video presentation on evolution of Kannada film music. Two books on eminent director late N Lakshminarayan will also be released.
Producer and director B S Ranga and veteran actress B Saroja Devi will be honoured. There will be screening of eight contemporary Italian films to celebrate the golden jubilee of Federation of Film Societies of India and diamond jubilee of International Federation of Film Societies.
According to festival director Girish Kasaravalli, the broad range of cinematic expression this year is in various films made by eminent filmmakers and the issues they explore.
The festival is organized by Suchitra Cinema and Cultural Academy and Suchitra Film Society in collaboration with the Karnataka government.
