Cabinet to decide on desilting

bangalaore: the proposal to desilt 747 tanks, including 738 minor irrigation ones in the cauvery basin, will be placed before the cabinet this week, minister of state for water resources kumar bangarappa said here on tuesday. the karnataka irrigation corporation will take up desilting work at a cost of rs 250 crore. there is no budgetary allocation, but it will be taken up as an additional estimate.kumar said work will begin on october 2 and by december first week, desilting of the tanks will be taken up in all districts.
