Bengaluru: A senior citizen’s house in RMV II Stage was burgled and valuables worth around Rs 55 lakh were stolen while she had gone to a resort along with her family members.
Police suspect it to be the handiwork of one or two burglars. The incident occurred on Friday night when 67-year-old Mabel Lewis, who was staying alone in the house, joined her relatives to attend a function at a resort near Hoskote.
The burglary came to light on Saturday morning when the woman’s maid came to the house and found the front door ajar. She immediately alerted the neighbours, who called Mabel and narrated what had happened. Following this, she reached home.
Sanjayanagar police said that the burglars had broken the lock of the wooden cupboard and almirah and stolen 35 gold bangles, two diamond bangles, two pairs of diamond earrings, a diamond pendant, two bracelets, a necklace, 20 pairs of earrings, and 20 sets of stones.
