BENGALURU: A 30-year-old senior executive with a biotech major was found hanging under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Vakil Magnolia at Thirumagondanahalli near Anekal on Saturday.
The woman’s mother has accused her son-in-law and his family of harassing her daughter for dowry, alleging they may have killed her. Barsha Priyadarshini, from Odisha, was employed with a biotech major in Jigani.

Suryanagar police on Sunday registered a case of death due to physical harassment against Barsha’s husband Ratikant Rath, his parents Lal Mohan Rath and Pushpanjali Rath, sister Munani and her husband Anshuman Mahapatra.
According to the complaint lodged by Barsha’s mother Arati Bala Mishra, Barsha and Ratikant got married in 2015. Ratikant too is from Odisha. “My son-in-law and his family were torturing my daughter for dowry. They demanded she get Rs 5 lakh from me. But we were unable to give her the money. They may have even killed her,” Arati stated.
Police said Barsha did not leave behind a death note. “Probe is under way to know the exact reason behind her death,” an officer said.
