Bengaluru: The presence of chief minister BS Yediyurappa’s son BY
Vijayendra at an event organised by Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA) on Thursday raised eyebrows.
Deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan, however, maintained the event was organized by B.PAC, a citizens’ collective. “This is not an official event; B.Pac invited everyone to interact with Shashi Verma, CTO and director of strategy, Transport for London (TFL). We came here to take inputs and adopt TFL’s best practices.’’ TFL is a government body responsible for London’s transport system.
Former CM and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy had accused Vijayendra of running a parallel government, which the CM’s son denied.
Speaking to mediapersons after the event, the DyCM said London has a wide public transport network. “They have congestion pricing to prevent private cars in the central business district. London has better practical experiences on public transport which we could learn.”
According to him, the integration of multiple modes including Metro, BMTC and railways will play an important role in reducing congestion.
