BANGALORE: The battle for Bellary continues unabated. Chief minister
B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday replaced Reddy brothers' handpicked officer, B Shivappa, with Amlan Aditya Biswas as deputy commissioner of the district. For the moment, Shivappa has not been given any posting. Similarly, N V Prasad, who is health minister
B Sriramulu's man in Gadag, has been moved out and Shankaranarayan posted as the DC.
After coming to power, Yeddyurappa didn't dare meddle with the top posts in Bellary. He briefly transferred Shivappa out and posted Harsh Gupta there during the revolt staged by the Reddys last October. The orders were revoked after Yeddyurappa and the Reddys agreed to a truce.
In the recent reshuffle of DC-level officers, the government posted Yeddyurappa's special officer B N Krishnaiah as DC of Uttara Kannada district and Ponnuraj as DC of CM's home turf Shimoga.
