BSNL numbers to be pre-fixed with 2

BANGALORE: The citys's BSNL telephones will go 8-digit tonight, and will have to be pre-fixed by a '2'. Starting midnight on January 23 all landline telephone numbers of BSNL in Bangalore will become 8-digit from the existing seven digits.

BANGALORE: The citys''s BSNL telephones will go 8-digit tonight, and will have to be pre-fixed by a ''2''. Starting midnight on January 23 (0 am on January 24) all landline telephone numbers of BSNL in Bangalore will become 8-digit from the existing seven digits.
Every BSNL landline number will have to be prefixed with the number `2''. For example, if your present telephone number is 3636366, then the new number will be 23636366.
But there will be no changes in special and emergency service numbers starting with `1''.

STD/ISD code remains the same.
With this, Bangalore will become one of the last cities in the country to go `8 digits'' in keeping with the National Numbering Scheme.
