BANGALORE
: The BBMP budget scheduled on Saturday has been postponed again. It's likely to be presented on July 26. One of the reasons behind deferring it is differences in the BJP over letting mayor
Venkatesh Murthy present the second budget in his tenure. Murthy, who has been mayor for long, had directed Palike officials to finalize the budget draft and present it to him.
Sources said the budget may be presented only after a new mayor is elected. The mayoral reservation case may be out in the high court by next week.
MK Gunashekar, opposition party leader in the BBMP council, said the budget was postponed because BJP leaders have no commitment towards Bangalore's growth. "There is no unity among them. Who presents the budget is not the question but when it'll be tabled. The budget was supposed to be presented in the third week of February. The delay only shows lack of commitment. All civic and development works in the city have come to a standstill because of this," Gunashekar said.
