BANGALORE: Even before the city could get over the triple murder that came to light on Friday, two more murders took place on Saturday night. In one of the cases, a man killed his younger brother after a tiff.
Police said Sathish, 30, and the accused Ramesh, both tailors, lived in adjacent houses in Chandrashekhar Layout in Jnana Bharathi police limits.
Ramesh is the eldest of four brothers, and Sathish the youngest. After their father's death, the four divided the property among themselves. The other two sold their land and lived separately.
Police said Ramesh and Sathish had a dispute over Rs 15,000 that Sathish `allegedly' owed his Ramesh. They often fought over the issue. On Saturday night, the issue cropped up again and Ramesh `allegedly' hit Sathish with an iron rod while the latter was having dinner.
Though Sathish was immediately taken to Nimhans, he succumbed on the way. Ramesh has been arrested.
MURDERED OUTSIDE WEDDING HALL
A 27-year-old man who had gone to attend a friend's sister's wedding was hacked to death in HBR Layout near Hennur on Saturday night.
Police said Praveen, 27, a milk vendor and resident of Malleswaram Pipeline Road, was attending Anil's sister's wedding at a hall in HBR Layout. After dinner, he and another friend Santhosh came out for a smoke. That's when a gang of six persons attacked them. Praveen died on the spot; Santhosh is undergoing treatment.
Praveen's brother Prashanth has lodged a complaint, suspecting Praveen's old friends to be behind the murder.
`COPS' ARRESTED FOR FRAUD
These two con men posed as policemen and offered inspectors' jobs to fleece people. The driver of a former police official and his associate have been arrested by Sampigehalli police for `allegedly' cheating two persons.
ACP Ramachandrappa said: "Joseph, 23, and Balu, 27, told Harshavardhan and Chethan Kumar they would get them a police inspector's job and asked them to pay Rs 20,000 up front."
The two paid Rs 10,000 each, and handed over some documents. They were even made to undergo fake medical tests. When they checked the papers given to them and verified the address, they realized there was no such address. They then approached Sampigehalli police, who nabbed the accused and recovered fake seals.
