Inaugurating the event, governor H R Bhardwaj said: "Everyone should bear it in mind that despite western influence, India's spirit and culture is very much alive. We have maintained a beautiful culture. South is the heart of India's culture and traditions."
The series will feature five different art forms for over 60 days across 40 schools and colleges in and around the city. The event marks the 150th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
"The sole idea behind conducting such programme is to create awareness among young minds about our culture," said S G Mayya, Karnataka state co-ordinator of Spicmacay.
