BENGALURU: Vidarbha assumed a position of command against Karnataka in the semifinal of the Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 tournament in Nagpur on Sunday. Vidarbha compiled an impressive 450 in their first innings and lead by 343 runs. Karnataka, in reply, were 107/2 at stumps on Day 2.
Vidarbha, who resumed the day on 294/3, lost Md Faiz and centurion Neel Athaley early on with Yashovardhan Parantap and Aaditya Nair dismissing the overnight batters respectivly.
But the sixth wicket partnership of 129 runs between Jagjot and Dharmendra Thakur helped Vidarbha gain further advantage.
The former was at his menacing best, scoring a 85-ball 94 (11x4, 4x6) before being dismissed by Hardik Raj (3/101) in the 124th over. The hosts lost five wickets for the addition of seven runs to be dismissed for 450.
Karnataka openers
Vijayaraj and Swaroop S Hipparangi delivered with a stand of 70 runs before the former was dismissed by Gaurav Farde, who sent back Dhruv Prabhakar (1) in his next over.
