Breakfast pe charcha? Now, DK Shivakumar 'invites' Siddaramaiah for meet tomorrow; CM says he will go 'if called'
BENGALURU: Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah is set to visit deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar’s residence on December 2, in what is being viewed as a show of unity and a temporary truce after months of an internal power tussle within the ruling Congress.
The meeting follows Shivakumar’s Saturday visit to the CM’s residence for a similar breakfast interaction. After that engagement—held on the directive of the Congress high command—both leaders publicly stated that “there won’t be any confusion.”
Both leaders have maintained that they will abide by the party high command’s decision on the leadership question.
The move is being seen as an attempt by the high command to cool tensions and signal continuity under Siddaramaiah—at least for now—with the legislature session scheduled to begin on December 8.
“As told by the CM on Saturday, he is scheduled to visit Shivakumar’s residence for breakfast tomorrow,” official sources said.
The leadership churn within the party had intensified recently, driven by speculation of a possible change in the top post after the government completed the halfway mark of its five-year tenure on November 20. The buzz was fuelled by talk of a purported 2023 “power-sharing” agreement between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar.

Meanwhile, CM Siddaramaiah on Monday added a layer of uncertainty. When asked about the planned breakfast meeting at Shivakumar’s residence, he said: "He had told me to come on Tuesday and left. But till this moment, I have not received any call. Maybe they might call. If I am called, I will go."Both leaders have maintained that they will abide by the party high command’s decision on the leadership question.
