BENGALURU: A class 10 student of a private school in Srirampura was left with two broken teeth and temporary and partial loss of vision after he was thrashed by four classmates on Thursday. The incident occurred after the boy spoke to a girl in his class regarding notes. One of the attackers is said to be in love with the girl.
When Aadarsh (name changed), 15, returned home crying with blurred vision, broken teeth, bleeding nose and other injuries, his shocked mother filed a complaint with police. Aadarsh is a resident of Magadi Road. According to the complainant, the incident happened around 3.45pm on July 27 when her son was returning home after class. Aadarsh had earlier asked the girl to give him her notes. The girl and he spoke for a couple of minutes and he returned to his seat after borrowing the notes.
A classmate of Aadarsh, Himanshu (name changed), noticed the conversation. During the physical training period, Himanshu and three other classmates got into a fight with Aadarsh. The PT teacher intervened and warned both parties. However, Himanshu warned Aadarsh that he would "teach him a lesson" after school hours.
After school, Aadarsh began walking home. He was only four buildings away from the school when Himanshu and the three other boys stopped him and beat him up. They allegedly kicked him and punched him in the face multiple times, and Aadarsh's two upper teeth were broken in the assault.
The boy's mother said: "Himanshu misunderstood my son and beat him up badly. Doctors have advised him rest for almost a month along with treatment. According to them, his vision is affected by the injuries. They will start treating him for the vision after the wounds heal. It was not a normal assault, so I lodged a complaint. The school management is in touch with us. They have assured us they will summon the parents all of all four boys and warn the students."
A senior police officer said, "We have booked a case against four boys under the Juvenile Justice Act... Since the attackers are students, they will be questioned by child welfare officials."
