Traffic cops from HAL police station arrested accused driver Vittal under IPC section 304A (Causing death due to negligence) and seized the vehicle.

According to police, the accident occurred around 9.15am when Nitesh was crossing the road to enter his school compound. Nitesh’s residence is close to the school. “Nitesh would come to school on his own. On Wednesday morning, he was crossing the road when the school van hit him,” said police.

“The road is too congested and the driver of the school bus, Vittal, might have been driving at a speed of around 40 kmph or even less. Unfortunately, the front portion of the vehicle hit Nitesh’s forehead and the boy fell on the road. Vittal and others immediately attended to him and gave him water. Since there were no physical injuries, everyone thought he was safe.

Nitesh crossed the road and went to school. Around 10am, he told his teachers that he was feeling giddy. A teacher, who was aware of the accident, immediately took him to a nearby hospital where Nitesh breathed his last around 11am,” added police.
