Bodies of Mahakumbh stampede victims to be brought back, says Karnataka minister Krishna Byre Gowda

NEW DELHI: Karnataka Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Thursday said that the bodies of four people who were killed in the stampede at Mahakumbh will be brought to the state this evening.
He said that senior officers are coordinating the effort.
IPS Officer Hariram Shankar is overseeing the transportation of four deceased individuals from Kumbh Mela via two ambulances to Delhi. Special DC Harsha from Belagavi is traveling to Delhi and will accompany the deceased during their journey to Belagavi this evening," Gowda said.
"The bodies will undergo embalming in Delhi. The Karnataka government has arranged an IndiGo flight at 3:20 pm for transporting the deceased, along with four family members and officials.
Currently, there are no additional reports of injuries or hospitalisations. Nevertheless, Karnataka's Nodal Officer, Harshal Boyar, has been instructed to investigate any potential injuries in hospitals if required," he further stated.
Karnataka Police confirmed on Wednesday that four devotees from Belagavi lost their lives in the stampede.
Political leaders from various parties expressed their grief over the tragic stampede incident that occurred early Wednesday, resulting in 30 fatalities and numerous injuries.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Vaibhav Krishna informed reporters that authorities have identified 25 bodies, while five remain unidentified. "The Mahakumbh stampede at Prayagraj has unfortunately claimed 30 lives. Twenty-five bodies have been identified, whilst five are pending identification," he stated.
The DIG reported that among the deceased, four were from Karnataka, one from Assam, and one from Gujarat. Additionally, 36 individuals were receiving treatment at a local medical college.
