Last year, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Bengaluru's principal civic agency, had ordered businesses in Bengaluru, to make sure their signboards gave 60% space to Kannada by February 28. The city is the country's IT hub and India's most linguistically diverse city.
