Doddaballapur (Bangalore Rural): At least five BJP workers were injured when a group of Congress workers allegedly pelted stones at them at Anabe village on Sunday evening.
It all began when BJP leader Mallaraju was addressing a public meeting at the village, which is also the early home of Congress candidate R G Venkatachalaiah. His remarks about Venkatachalaiah is said to have upset Congress workers.
Latha and Channe Gowda, who sustained injuries, have been hospitalized, while three others have been treated and discharged.
Later, BJP workers retaliated by hurling stones on some cars belonging to the Congress at Koogalahalli village. Additional police personnel have been rushed to these villages.
