BENGALURU: A dispute over property between two brothers ended in murder at Kacharakanahalli, Banaswadi, north88east Bengaluru, on Wednesday morning.
Manjunath alias Koli Manja (40), a realtor, was stabbed to death with a machete by his brother Madhu, 32, a truck owner and a small-time businessman, in full public view. Both were staying in Kacharakanahalli with their parents.
Recently, Manju had sold a residential plot which belonged to the family and did not share the amount with Madhu. There were frequent scuffles between them over the issue for the past few months and the matter reached the court too, police said.
On Wednesday, around 9.45am, Madhu accosted Manja, who was drinking tea from a roadside shop, and attacked him before taking to his heels. Shopkeepers shifted Manja to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Madhu has been taken into custody.
Labourer stabs co-worker
A 24-year-old labourer was stabbed by his colleague over a trivial issue in west Bengaluru on Tuesday night.
The incident was reported from Jnanabharthi police station limits around 11.30pm.
Sharan Kumar, a construction worker, was sitting outside his house when his co-worker Thalaivan approa8ched him. Soon a quarrel ensued between them and an enraged Thalaivan stabbed Sharan with a knife on his hand and chest, police said.
Alerted by locals, cops rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital. Sharan is out of danger.
A case of attempt to murder under section 307, IPC, has been registered at Jnanabharthi police station. Th alaivan is still at large.
