Biocon Biologics appoints Shreehas Tambe as MD & CEO

Bengaluru: Biocon Biologics, a subsidiary and flagship business of Bengaluru-based Biocon, has appointed Shreehas Tambe, as the managing director and CEO of the company. Tambe took over from Arun Chandavarkar, who continues to serve as a non-executive, non-independent director on the board. Tambe has been with Biocon since 1997, looking after the group’s strategic capital investments, including its first overseas facility in Malaysia. “I am extremely pleased that Shreehas is taking on the responsibility of leading Biocon Biologics as MD & CEO at a time when the company is gearing up for global leadership in biosimilars with the closing of the Viatris acquisition,” said Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, executive chairperson of Biocon & Biocon Biologics. Biocon Biologics acquired the global biosimilars business of its long-standing partner Viatris in February this year, and has commercialised eight biosimilars in global markets like the US, EU, Australia, Canada, and Japan.
