MANGALORE: St Michael's High School scored an eight-wicket win over Government PU College, Virajpet, in the opening match of the Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone KSCA -Dell inter-school cricket tournament at the KALS Cricket ground, Gonikoppa, on Tuesday. Batting first, the Virajpet side was bundled out for 49 in the 9th over. St Michael's reached the target in the 10th over.
The tournament is being held in three districts - Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. From December 8, matches will be held in Nehru Maidan, Mangalore, NIT-K, Surathkal, and MIT, Manipal.

Andria D'Souza triumphs Andria D'Souza of St Agnes Girls' High School won the title in the invitational rapid chess tournament, organized by Derik's Chess School, in Mangalore on Sunday. Andria scored 6.5 points in 7 rounds. In all, 57 invited players, including many international (FIDE) and national (CAI) rated stars, participated in the 7-round Swiss league Fischer mode rapid event.
