Bengaluru's tap water safe: BWSSB

BENGALURU: Three days after a report by the

Bureau of Indian Standards

(BIS) said Bengaluru’s

tap water

is among the most unsafe in the country, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) on Tuesday said the water supplied by them is of prescribed quality.

The

water board

said they collect 80-100 water samples from the

distribution network

every day and send them for testing. "We tested 33,567 samples from October 2018 to November 16, 2019, of which 381 (1.14%) failed. The World Health Organisation’s permissible limit is 5%. Hence, the water supplied is of prescribed quality," a senior official said.
