'The judge was corrupt', says father of Subhash Atul
"We don't know where she has kept our grandson. Has he been killed or is he alive? We don't know anything about him. I want my grandson to be with us. I thank the police for arresting the accused. The judge (of the accused) was corrupt. I still haven't got justice as a case has been filed against me, said father of deceased Subhash Atul, Pawan Kumar Modi.
"A new case has been filed against me in the name of my grandson...We appeal to PM Modi, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and other leaders to ensure that my grandson comes to me...For a grandfather, his grandson means more than his son...The whole society, people are standing in my support," he added further.
'Will not immerse ashes of my son till we get justice'
Further, the father of Subhash Atul called for strict punishment for those who "harassed" his son, asserting that his ashes will not be immersed till justice is served.
"I thank the Karnataka Police for arresting them (Subhash's estranged wife and in-laws). All those who harassed my son should be punished so that he gets justice, and his soul rests in peace. I will not immerse the ashes of my son till we get justice," Kumar, said.
Anticipatory bail applications filed
Atul's estranged wife and her family members filed anticipatory bail pleas in Allahabad high court, according to reports on Saturday.
The pleas for anticipatory bail came after the Bengaluru City Police on Friday issued a summons to Nikita Singhania and asked her to appear before it within three days.
Subhash, a 34-year-old engineer, died by suicide in Bengaluru on Monday, allegedly due to harassment by his estranged wife and her family members.
A case of abetment to suicide has been filed against Nikita Singhania and her relatives.
Estranged wife was living as paying guest in Gurgaon
Nikita was detained by police near Hongkong Bazar Road around 9 am. She had been staying in a paying guest accommodation in Phase 2, Rail Vihar, Gurugram, Haryana. Meanwhile, Nisha and Anurag were apprehended near Hotel Rameshwaram Inn in Jhunsi, Allahabad district, Uttar Pradesh, around the same time.
According to the police, the trio was flown to Bengaluru, arriving in the city at approximately 10.30pm. They underwent medical tests and were presented at the magistrate's residence around 5.30 am on Sunday. Subsequently, they were remanded to 14 days of judicial custody and transferred to Central Prison, Parappana Agrahara.
During interrogation, Nikita denied harassing her husband, claiming instead that she was the one being harassed. She stated that she had been living separately from him for nearly three years and questioned why she would harass him for money while staying away.
"We will thoroughly investigate the case and file a chargesheet in court if the allegations made by Atul are substantiated," an officer said.
