The pleas for anticipatory bail came after the Bengaluru City Police on Friday issued a summons to Nikita Singhania and asked her to appear before it within three days.

Subhash, a 34-year-old engineer, died by suicide in Bengaluru on Monday, allegedly due to harassment by his estranged wife and her family members. A case of abetment to suicide has been filed against Nikita Singhania and her relatives.

Police collect documents from family court

Bengaluru police have summoned for questioning the wife and in-laws of Atul Subhash, an executive at an automobile firm who died by suicide Monday, leaving a 24-page note accusing them of harassment.

A four-member team of Bengaluru police, led by a sub-inspector, pasted a notice at the house of Atul’s in-laws in UP on Friday, giving them three days’ time to appear before the investigation officer, after the cops failed to trace them. The cops also collected documents from Jaunpur family court, where his wife Nikita Singhania had filed a case of maintenance, as evidence.

A case was registered in Bengaluru against her, her mother Nisha, brother Anurag and uncle Sushil Singhania, based on a complaint lodged by the deceased techie’s brother, Bikas. Nikita’s mother and brother fled their home Wednesday night, anticipating action against them.

The Bengaluru team, which reached Jaunpur Thursday evening, sought the cooperation of local police and raided the house of Singhania family, which was found locked. Their phones were also switched off. While the Karnataka cops returned, completing all formalities, local police are continuing their efforts to ascertain the whereabouts of Singhanias.
