BENGALURU: Bengaluru city will be connected with two more Vande Bharat express train services. South Western Railway (SWR) officials said the railway board has cleared the introduction of an additional Vande Bharat train service between Chennai and Mysuru via Bengaluru and a new service between Kalaburagi and Bengaluru.
As per schedule, the train leaves Mysuru at 6am and reaches Chennai at 12.20pm. In the return direction, it leaves Chennai at 5pm and reaches Mysuru at 11.20pm. Stoppages are given at five locations — Mandya, SMVT Bengaluru, Krishnarajapura and Jolarpettai.
An SWR official said due to maintenance constraints at Mysuru, initially, the train will be terminated at SMVT Bengaluru. From April 5, the train will run regularly between Mysuru and Chennai.
The new Vande Bharat train leaves Kalaburagi at 5.15 am and reaches Bengaluru at 2 pm. It leaves Bengaluru at 2.40 pm and reaches Kalaburagi at 11.30 pm. In Bengaluru, stoppages are provided at Yelahanka and SMVB (terminal station).
“Till the commissioning of maintenance facilities at Kalaburagi, the train will be operated between Kalaburagi and SMVB. After completion of the works at Kalaburagi, the train will be handled at Bengaluru Cantonment instead of SMVB,” states a press release. New train services are likely to be inaugurated on March 12 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Currently, VB trains link Bengaluru with Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Hubballi-Dharwad.
