The advisory states, “In the light of continuous and heavy rain in the city and an orange alert issued by the meteorological department, we are prioritizing the safety and well-being of all employees working in IT, BT and private companies located in Bengaluru.

As transportation may be disrupted due to flooding, waterlogging and traffic congestion, commuting to office premises could pose risks. As a precautionary measure, it is recommended that IT, BT and private companies permit their employees to work from home on Oct 16, 2024.”

An official from Outer Ring Road Companies Association told TOI the association has received the advisory from KITS.

Noteworthy, heavy rain in Bengaluru on Tuesday left residents of Yelahanka, Mahadevapura, and the eastern zone grappling with severe flooding, affecting nearly 150 homes and several key roads, disrupting traffic flow.

Yelahanka was particularly hard-hit, with over 118 houses inundated, while Mahadevapura saw 20 homes impacted by the floodwaters. The downpour also caused the uprooting of 39 trees and downed 55 branches, with Yelahanka reporting 10 uprooted trees and seven in the west zone.
