Bengaluru police intensify search for molester
Bengaluru: Suddaguntepalya police are yet to achieve a breakthrough in their hunt for a molester who harassed a woman walking with her friend in the early hours of April 3. The women were returning to their paying guest accommodation after having green tea at a shop.According to police, the woman and her friend left the PG accommodation at 12.50am and went to a stall on Suddaguntepalya Main Road. The man was also present near the shop. When they left the shop at 1.52am, he followed them. When they reached I Cross, Bharathi Layout, half a kilometre away from a private university, he sexually harassed on of the women. The incident came to light after a businessman shared a CCTV grab of the assault on social media Sunday. The woman did not file a complaint. She and her friend were in the city to get admission to a private college for their master's degree. Police commissioner B Dayananda said: "Our team has analysed hundreds of CCTV cameras. A swift investigation is being conducted to identify the accused and determine his whereabouts. Day and night beat patrolling is being done regularly. The efficiency of the night patrolling is being analysed using technology. We will take further measures to intensify patrolling."Police have taken a complaint from Lokesh Gowda, who stays in the area where the girl was molested and shared the clip. Police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 75 (sexual harassment), and 78 (stalking).
